Leah-Sunshine Garrett
Founder & CEO, Dawn Intelligence Ltd
Leah Garrett started coding at ten, which means she has been writing code for almost fifteen years — and she is 24. She is the founder and CEO of Dawn Intelligence, the first platform of its kind in the UK, which forecasts incidents of harm up to a year in advance across every UK neighbourhood and nineteen crime types, from domestic abuse and stalking to serious violence and burglary, at 98+% accuracy. She built it single-handedly at 23, driven by the conviction that harm is predictable, not inevitable. Dawn’s founding doctrine — it forecasts incidents, not people — is enforced in the platform’s code rather than written into a policy. Within its first year, Leah was invited to No 10 to input on violence against women and girls and AI.
Leah is the co-author, with her mum Jenny Garrett OBE, of AI for Equity (October 2026), and together they host the AI for Equity podcast, now past fifty episodes. She also makes Sacred Space, a feminist podcast and Substack on institutions and accountability. An activist since her first protest at eight, she was elected to the UK Youth Parliament at eleven and spoke in the House of Commons at twelve. She read Politics and Psychology at Dundee, and has since spoken at the London Stock Exchange, to the POWERful Women board and European Women on Boards, and delivers responsible AI and AI literacy training for organisations, local authorities and schools. She is a Black British woman of Caribbean heritage, a musician and a DJ.
